“Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” (Mark 12:32-33)
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for showing me how to love by first loving me. Your love redeems and restores. Without You, I can’t understand love. Sometimes I can be selfish and self-centered. There are times when I allow fear, hurt, anxiety or the cares of this world to hinder my love for you or others. Reveal where I have put goals, people, and dreams before you. Forgive me, Lord, and transform me into a reflection of your love. Help me to treasure you above all else. Pour into me a hunger for you and your will. Place in me a humble, willing and obedient heart, able to be led by your Holy Spirit. Teach me how to love my neighbor, and how to intentionally seek out others to love. Show me how I can use my talents and gifts to demonstrate love to the world. If selfish desires or ambition lead me away from your will, redirect me so that I may be used to build up, edify, encourage or heal.
In Jesus name,
Amen
