“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:43-48 (ESV)
Thank you for your love, forgiveness, mercy and grace. I am eternally blessed because your grace abounds more and more.
Fill me with a spirit of mercy toward others, especially toward those who have caused me harm. Fill me with a Your Spirit of love. Teach me to love like you love. Give me a committed desire to pray for those who have sought to attack or persecute me.
Father I want to forgive as you have commanded me. But, this can only be accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit. Help me to continually surrender to you, so that I am able to walk a life of obedience. Fill me with a spirit of gratitude and humility, so that I am able to freely offer grace to others.
Give me new understanding about your perfect love, so that I may see you more clear, serve in greater faith, and demonstrate determined faithfulness.
In Jesus name I pray this. I love you.
