Daily Hope & a Prayer – April 23

On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”  When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.” Luke 17:11-19 (ESV)

Dear Father,

Thank you for loving me even when I was far away from your will. I thank you that even when I am broken by shame, guilt or condemnation, I can cry out to you, repent, and receive mercy. I praise you because you are a Savior who hears me call you no matter how far I have strayed.

Help me to draw close to you in my time of need. Give me the courage to walk in faith even before the answer to my prayer has come to pass. Fill me with a spirit of gratitude, that I might live a life of thankfulness. I want to live a life of worship, that continually points others toward you. May I never forget all that you have done in my life. Keep ever before me the realization that I have been adopted into your family, though only because of your grace. Give me a heart that sincerely desires the salvation of others. Make me into a person who rejoices when those who were lost accept your gift of salvation.

Give me the wisdom to understand the importance of walking in faith. Teach me to walk in overflowing, situation-changing faith. When I am facing trials and situations that seem impossible, help me to choose to stand on your promises, and your ability to answer prayer. Then Lord, fill me with joy and peace as I await for your goodness and faithfulness to meet me in my situation.

In Jesus name I pray this. I love you.
