Daily Hope & a Prayer – March 28

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:12-13 (NIV)

Dear Father,

Thank you Lord for your love. Thank you for your grace. Thank you Holy Spirit for interceding for me when I do not know what to pray for. Father, you are so magnificent that You have a prepared a way for me to come to Your throne of grace with requests, even when I lack insight regarding why I should come! I could sing “thank you!” for days, and days, and still not have thanked you sufficiently. Teach me to live a life of thankfulness, where my gratitude is demonstrated moment by moment through the obedience that I offer up to You.

Change my heart Lord. Take from me this heart hardened by life’s experiences, which continually attempts to keep me focused on myself. Replace it with a willing and loving heart, full of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Mold me into someone that sincerely cares for the interests of others. I want to be someone that intentional prays and seeks out ways to meet the needs of those You love, especially the weak, tired, worn, poor, broken and sick. Give me a heart that desires to become engaged in the problems of those who are unable to care for themselves, and give me feet and hands that proactively finds ways to do the work required of Christ-followers. Deliver me of, and forgive me for, pride that would cause me to look down upon, judge, deal harshly with, criticize, or neglect others. Make me passionate about healing the sick, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, healing the sick, and visiting those imprisoned. Convict me when I would attempt to ignore the needs of those whom I could help. Also Lord, please give me a patient heart with individuals and situations that I find difficult. Help me to remember that no one owes me more than I owe You, and therefore I am called to love and forgive without exception. Help me Lord to love and forgive as You have commanded me. At times, I have been hurt so deeply that it is hard to forgive. Teach me to forgive continually, humbly releasing the debt every time the memory of the hurt comes to mind, as You have graciously let go of mine. Thank you for Your eternal love.

In Jesus name I pray this,
