Daily Hope & a Prayer – Day 28

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Dear Father,

Thank you for love that is unmerited, unconditional, and unable to be earned. When I was yet a sinner, you not only loved me, but you paid an immeasurable debt so that I might be restored to You. While I was still lost to death, you sought me out and found me. Though I rebelled in anger and fought bitterly against your right to rule me, you patiently withstood my repetitive attempts to abuse your goodness. You have been glorified through the redemption of my soul. My life is a testimony of Your mercy. Any peace, any joy, any goodness, any love that I possess, are all a result of your Lordship over my life. And yet, none of it is my own doing. Help me to keep ever before me just how much life I was given, when all I deserved was death, so that I might walk in humility and gratitude all the days of my life.

Thank you for Your loving hands that continually guide me to You. And when in anger, or frustration, I begin to lose patience with others – or when bitterness threatens to overtake me for a rightly or mistakenly perceived abuse, use me to love like you. Lord, may you use my life to be a vessel of grace, that I might love my enemies, bless those that curse me, do good to all who hate me, and to pray for any who despitefully use or persecute me (adapted in part from Matthew 5:44).

In Jesus name we ask all this,

Amen
